Peugeot Partner particulate filter additive
Peugeot Partner P1435: the additive pump fault on the van trades rely on
Codes: P1435, P1434, U0118, FEB0, P2002
P1435 on a Peugeot Partner means the engine ECU cannot reach the Eolys additive pump properly, or the pump has flagged a fault. Partners from the 2008 to 2018 generation with 1.6 HDi or BlueHDi often have an additive system. Newer 1.5 BlueHDi vans generally do not. We confirm by VIN, then test the wiring before any part. Mobile diagnosis from £249.
We diagnose first, at your vehicle. Fixed price before any work starts. No fix, no fee on the agreed outcome. Mobile to your drive, yard, depot or roadside, 6am to 9pm, 7 days including bank holidays.

Which Partners carry an additive system
The 2008 to 2018 Partner (the B9 generation, also sold as the Citroën Berlingo) with the 1.6 HDi or 1.6 BlueHDi engine commonly has an Eolys additive system feeding the particulate filter. Some of these vans have the older rigid tank, others the flexible pouch.
From 2018 the Partner moved to a new platform with the 1.5 BlueHDi engine. These generally do not have an additive tank, so P1435 should not appear on them. If one does, we check the VIN and the software before accepting the code at face value.
As always, we confirm by VIN. Euro 6 Partners may also have AdBlue, which is separate, and its codes are separate too.
Where the pump is and why a Partner suffers
The Partner is a small van that works hard, and its additive pump sits low near the rear of the fuel tank.
Close to the back wheels
The tank area is directly behind and above the rear wheel path. Every puddle, wet drive and salted lane is thrown at the connector.
Heavy loads on a small chassis
Partners often carry ladders, pipes and tools at the limit of payload. A heavy rear end puts the tank area low and close to speed bumps and kerbs.
Short trips and stop-start
Courier and trade routes rarely give the engine a long steady run. The filter relies on the additive to regenerate, so a pump that stops dosing causes soot to build quickly.
Shelving and tow work
Racking, bulkheads and towbar fittings all involve the underside. A rubbed or trapped loom is a regular find.
What Partner owners usually notice
A Partner in limp mode with a full load of tools is a recognisable problem. It pulls hard to 30 or 40 mph, then runs out of steam on any incline. The engine lamp comes on, and the dash may show an anti-pollution fault or the particle filter message.
Many Partners are owned by sole traders who cannot afford a day off the road. That changes how we work. We aim to diagnose and fix in one visit, outside your working hours if needed, which is why we run from 6am to 9pm, 7 days a week.
A short-lived warning that clears and returns is common. It does not mean the fault has gone. The ECU is reporting an intermittent connection, usually from a damp connector.
What makes the Partner different to diagnose
Because the Partner is a rebadged sibling of the Berlingo, tools and parts catalogues treat them almost the same, but there are production changes by month. Getting the right additive type and pump for the actual VIN matters, and the fluids are not interchangeable between tank types.
Many Partners in the 2010 to 2014 period used the earlier rigid tank. Later ones use the pouch. Knowing which one you have saves buying the wrong part. See our Citroën Berlingo P1435 page for the sister model.
Eolys on a Partner: not the AdBlue warning
Partner owners often assume any exhaust warning is AdBlue. On this van, an additive fault concerns the particulate filter only. The Eolys fluid sits in a small tank near the fuel tank and the pump doses it as you refuel.
Euro 6 BlueHDi Partners can also have AdBlue in a separate tank, and those faults show codes such as P20EE. If both are in play, we handle them as two jobs. Filling one tank will not clear a fault in the other.
| Eolys additive (P1435) | AdBlue / SCR | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does | Helps the particulate filter burn off soot | Converts NOx in the exhaust into nitrogen and water |
| Where the fluid goes | Into the diesel fuel tank, at each refuel | Sprayed into the exhaust, ahead of the SCR catalyst |
| The fluid | Cerium-based additive (Eolys) | 32.5% urea solution (AdBlue / DEF) |
| Who tops it up | Workshop only, with a counter reset | The driver, through the blue filler |
| Typical codes | P1435, P1434, U0118, P15B3 | P20EE, P20E8, P207F, P20BA |
| If ignored | Blocked particulate filter, limp mode | Countdown to a no-start |
Our Partner P1435 diagnosis
We test the van as you use it, and we prove each step with readings.
Confirm the generation and system
VIN, engine and build tell us whether an additive tank is fitted and which type.
Scan all modules
We look for matching network codes such as U0118 elsewhere in the van.
Review additive and soot data
Live counters, refuel detection and filter pressure show whether the pump has dosed recently.
Run the pump test
We command the pump and listen and measure for a response.
Check power and CAN at the plug
Supply, earth, and both CAN lines are measured at the connector under load.
Inspect the tank area
We look at the connector seal, loom, brackets and fluid unit for rubbing, rust and leaks.
Partner P1435 repair and what you pay
Diagnosis first, then a fixed price before we begin. No fix, no fee on the agreed outcome.
We come to your home, unit or job site, and most Partner repairs are done there and then. If a part is needed, we confirm the exact one for your VIN, quote it fixed, and return to fit, code and test it. Work carries a written warranty.
Connector clean or replacement
Corroded pins cleaned or the connector replaced, then sealed against water.
Wiring repair
Damaged supply or CAN wires repaired and re-clipped well clear of wheel spray.
Pump or tank fitting
The right unit for your tank type, coded and tested after fitting.
Refill, reset and regeneration
Fresh Eolys, additive counter reset, and a service regeneration if soot has built up.
- Mobile diagnosis and straightforward fix: From £249 Callout, live-data diagnosis and fixes such as connector or loom repairs.
- Additive pump or tank assembly: Fixed price after diagnosis Only quoted once the wiring is proven good.
- Filter regeneration: Quoted on the day Only if soot loading is high.
P1435 questions
Does my 2019 Peugeot Partner have an additive tank?
Probably not. The 2018 on Partner with 1.5 BlueHDi generally has no additive tank. We confirm by VIN, because variants differ.
Is the pouch or the tank the problem on an older Partner?
Sometimes. A pouch can split or run empty. But a connector or wiring fault is more common, so we test before replacing.
My Partner only loses power with a full load. Is that this code?
It can be. A loaded engine hits the limp threshold sooner when the filter is clogged. Reading the soot mass tells us whether the additive fault is behind it.
Can you fix a Partner at my job site?
Yes. We are mobile and attend drives, yards, units and roadsides. We need safe, level access and space to get under the van.
Does a Partner need a different additive from a Berlingo?
The tank type decides it, not the badge. We match the fluid to the VIN, as the rigid and pouch types are not interchangeable.
