Citroën Dispatch particulate filter additive

Citroën Dispatch P1435: fixing the additive pump fault on fleet and conversion vans

Codes: P1435, P1434, U0118, FEB0, P2463, P2002

P1435 on a Citroën Dispatch is a multiplexed Eolys additive pump fault: the ECU cannot talk to the pump, or the pump reports a fault. It applies to Dispatch vans with a particulate filter additive system, mainly the 1.6 and 2.0 HDi and BlueHDi. Later 1.5 BlueHDi vans generally do not have one. We confirm by VIN, then test wiring first. Mobile diagnosis from £249.

We diagnose first, at your vehicle. Fixed price before any work starts. No fix, no fee on the agreed outcome. Mobile to your drive, yard, depot or roadside, 6am to 9pm, 7 days including bank holidays.

Dispatch generations and the additive system

The 2007 to 2016 Dispatch, with 1.6 HDi and 2.0 HDi engines, often has an Eolys system on filter-equipped vans. From 2016 the Dispatch was updated with 1.6 and 2.0 BlueHDi, and these commonly carry the additive too. Later 1.5 BlueHDi variants generally do not.

The Dispatch shares its platform with the Peugeot Expert and the Toyota Proace, so advice here carries across. The Proace may differ in software, so we check each van on its VIN.

Euro 6 Dispatches can also have AdBlue, which is separate from the additive and uses different codes.

Pump location and why a Dispatch suffers

The additive tank and pump are fitted low near the fuel tank, in the middle of the van's underside.

  • Minibus and crew conversions

Dispatches are often converted into minibuses, camper vans and crew vans. Conversion firms add wiring, heaters and brackets near the tank, which can rub the pump loom.

  • Fleet mileage and short stops

Fleet vans do mixed driving, from long motorway runs to stop-start town drops. Filters in town use rely heavily on the additive, so a failed pump shows up fast.

  • Wet yards and car parks

Pool vehicles stand outdoors in yards and car parks. Spray, salt and standing water reach the connector from below.

  • Shared drivers

Many drivers means more kerb strikes and ramp scrapes. A knocked loom is harder to trace to a single event.

How a loaded Dispatch behaves

A Dispatch with a full racking load in limp mode will slow on any incline. The engine lamp comes on, and a dash message about the anti-pollution system or the filter may appear. Drivers often say it just feels strangled.

Minibus and crew vans feel it differently. With passengers on board, limp mode is an obvious safety and comfort problem. We treat those as priority calls.

If the fault clears on a restart and comes back, that points at a marginal connection. Do not read that as fixed.

What makes the Dispatch distinctive to diagnose

Because Dispatch, Expert and Proace share electronics, tool labels differ between brands. We read the module itself rather than the brand label. Conversion wiring can also add network noise, so we test the CAN lines at the pump plug rather than assume.

Fleet vans often have patchy service histories. A pump may have been swapped without coding or a reset. We check for that. The Peugeot side of the family is covered on our Peugeot P1435 page.

Dispatch Eolys and AdBlue explained

A Dispatch can have two separate emissions fluids. Eolys is dosed into the diesel and helps the filter burn soot. AdBlue is used by the SCR system to reduce NOx on Euro 6 vans.

P1435 is an Eolys code. Fleet managers often see both warnings on the same van and assume one fault. They are separate jobs, with separate tanks, pumps and fixes. We can handle both in one visit.

How we diagnose P1435 on a Dispatch

We attend the van on site and measure before replacing anything.

  • VIN and system confirmation

We confirm generation, engine and whether an additive system is fitted.

  • Full module scan

Engine and network modules are read for lost-communication and soot codes.

  • Additive live data

We read the additive counter, refuel detection, soot mass and pressure.

  • Pump actuator test

We command the pump to check it runs.

  • Plug measurements

Supply, earth and both CAN lines, measured with the plug connected.

  • Conversion wiring check

We look for conversion cabling, brackets or heaters that rub or interfere with the pump loom.

Dispatch P1435 repair and pricing

Diagnosis comes first, then a fixed price before work starts. No fix, no fee on the agreed outcome.

We are mobile and visit your depot, yard, drive or roadside from 6am to 9pm, 7 days a week, including bank holidays. Fleet accounts are available, with a fixed price per van after diagnosis. All work carries a written warranty.

  • Connector and wiring repair

Corroded pins replaced, damaged wires repaired with sealed joints, and loom re-secured.

  • Pump or tank replacement

Only once wiring is proven, then coded and tested.

  • Refill and counter reset

Correct Eolys for the tank type and a counter reset.

  • Regeneration and test drive

A service regeneration if needed, then a road test.

  • Mobile diagnosis and simple fix: From £249 Callout, diagnosis and fixes such as a connector or wiring repair.
  • Additive pump or tank assembly: Fixed price after diagnosis Quoted when the cause is proven.
  • Service regeneration: Quoted on the day Depends on soot mass.

P1435 questions

Does a Toyota Proace have the same P1435 fault?

Proace vans share the Dispatch platform and may carry the same additive system, depending on year. Code wording can differ, so we confirm by VIN.

Is a Dispatch minibus handled differently?

The fault is the same, but conversion wiring near the tank needs checking. With passengers on board we treat limp mode as a priority.

Does a 1.5 BlueHDi Dispatch have an additive tank?

Generally not. We still confirm by VIN before ruling it in or out.

Can you service several Dispatch vans in one visit?

Yes. We attend depots, diagnose each van on its VIN, and quote a fixed price per vehicle.

A driver reset the dash and the Dispatch ran fine for a week. Is it fixed?

Probably not. An intermittent connection can sit quiet for days. Stored history helps us find it.
