Movano and Master AdBlue Repair
Vauxhall Movano and Renault Master AdBlue repair: faults fixed mobile
Master III and Movano B with the 2.3 dCi or CDTi, and the 2021 on Movano C with the Fiat-derived 2.2 diesel, use SCR with NOx sensors, a pump and a dosing injector on Euro 6 versions. A fault brings an AdBlue warning and a countdown to no start. We diagnose and repair on site, 6am–9pm, 7 days including bank holidays. From £249, fixed price before work starts, no fix no fee.
By the Bolt Remaps technical team
The 2021 on Movano C is Fiat Ducato based. See our Fiat Ducato AdBlue repair.
Typical Movano and Master AdBlue dash messages
Masters commonly show "Check emissions system" or "Pollution fault" with a mileage or starts counter, and a "Service Urgently" message as the warning escalates. Movano B vans show similar Renault-style wording, while the Movano C shows Stellantis-style messages such as "AdBlue: engine will not restart in X miles".
Wording varies by year, but the sequence is the same. A warning, a counter, then no restart at zero. If the AdBlue tank is full and the message stays, a component fault is logged. Topping up will not clear it.
Common AdBlue faults on the Movano and Master
The 2.3 dCi gained SCR on Euro 6 versions from about 2016. Heavy vans work hard, carry loads and run long hours, which puts stress on the sensors and injector.
NOx sensor failure — P20EE, P229F
P229F points at a sensor out of range or in disagreement, and P20EE reports poor catalyst efficiency, which is often a drifting sensor. We check both sensors before quoting.
NOx sensor circuit and comms — P2200, U029D
P2200 (circuit) or U029D (lost communication) can come from the sensor, its module or damaged wiring near the exhaust. We test the loom before replacing parts.
Dosing injector deposits — P204F, P20E9
Urea crystals build up on the injector tip. P204F logs a performance fault and P20E9 can appear as pressure climbs against the restriction. Cleaning often fixes it.
Low pressure and pump faults — P20E8
A weak pump, supply line leak or blocked filter can set P20E8. Live pressure data tells us which it is.
Heater and fluid faults — P20BA, P207F
P20BA is a tank heater fault, most common in cold snaps. P207F is a fluid quality fault, often from old or contaminated AdBlue.
How we diagnose a Movano or Master on site
Live data first, parts second.
Full code read with freeze-frame data
Engine and SCR codes are read with the conditions recorded when each fault set.
NOx sensor readings under load
Both sensors are compared as load changes, so a slow or stuck downstream sensor stands out.
Pump pressure test
The pump is commanded on and pressure watched for drops under sustained dosing.
Injector dosing check
Commanded and actual dosing are compared, with a visual inspection for crystallisation.
Wiring, heater and fluid test
Connectors, heater current and fluid strength are checked before any part is condemned.
How the Movano and Master AdBlue repair works
The aim is a van that starts normally, shows no warning and has verified SCR function. Fixed total before work starts. No fix, no fee. Written warranty.
Injector cleaning and fluid changes are usually done on the first visit. If a part must be ordered, we diagnose first, agree the price and return to fit it. We come to your driveway, yard, depot or roadside, and can work on vans that are already sitting at a depot with a countdown running.
Warning cleared and restart proven
Codes are cleared after the repair and the engine restarted to prove the countdown has gone.
Live-data sign-off
Pressure, both NOx sensors and the heater are checked at operating temperature.
Written warranty
Every repair carries a written warranty.

Software path — discussed only after diagnosis
Physical repair comes first on every Movano and Master callout. Any software option is only discussed after diagnosis, when a repair is not sensible, with a clear explanation of the legal position.
Any software change that disables AdBlue or SCR monitoring is supplied for off-road, competition or export use only, and the customer declares any modifications. It is never offered as a road-legal fix. Read our disclaimer.
Master III, Movano B and Movano C
The Master III has been sold since 2010. The 2.3 dCi gained AdBlue on most Euro 6 versions from about 2016, so earlier vans often have none. The Movano B was Master-based until 2021, with the same 2.3 engine.
The Movano C, from 2021, switched to a Fiat Ducato-based platform with a 2.2 diesel. Its SCR parts and fault patterns follow the Ducato, not the Master. The newest Master has also moved on, so we confirm the year and engine first.
Nissan NV400
The Nissan NV400 is the Master twin. The same fault codes and repairs apply, and we attend it just like a Master.
Heavy-use vans and conversions
Luton boxes, tippers, minibuses and campervan conversions on these chassis often run loaded or sit idle for long spells. Both can age AdBlue and foul the injector, so we check fluid age and injector condition first.
Frequently asked questions
Does a Renault Master have AdBlue?
Most Euro 6 Master III vans with the 2.3 dCi, from about 2016, do. Earlier Euro 5 vans usually do not. Send us your registration and we confirm.
How much to fix AdBlue on a Movano or Master?
From £249 for diagnosis and straightforward fixes. Parts are NOx sensor from £249, injector £750 and tank assembly £795. Labour is quoted after diagnosis, with a fixed total before work starts.
Is the Movano C the same as the Master?
No. From 2021 the Movano is Fiat Ducato based with a 2.2 diesel, so its SCR system follows the Ducato rather than the Master.
What is P2200 on a Master?
P2200 is a NOx sensor circuit fault. It can come from the sensor, wiring or connector, and we test the circuit before replacing anything.
Can you attend a van at our depot?
Yes. We come to your driveway, yard, depot or roadside, 6am–9pm, 7 days including bank holidays. Fleet visits can cover several vans at once.
Do you also fix the Nissan NV400?
Yes. It is the Master twin, so the same diagnosis and repairs apply. No fix, no fee.
