Mitsubishi L200 AdBlue Repair
Mitsubishi L200 AdBlue repair: Series 6 2.2 DI-D SCR faults fixed on site
The Series 6 Mitsubishi L200 (2019 on) has a 2.2 DI-D engine with an AdBlue SCR system: tank, pump, dosing injector and NOx sensors. When a part fails, the dash usually warns of an AdBlue or emission fault with a restart countdown. Earlier Series 5 trucks mostly had no AdBlue. We diagnose and repair on site, 6am–9pm, 7 days including bank holidays. From £249, fixed total before work starts, no fix no fee.

What the L200 AdBlue warning means
A Series 6 L200 with an SCR fault usually shows an AdBlue or emission system warning in the cluster, followed by a message that the engine will not restart after a set distance. Wording varies, so rely on the figure on screen.
The counter falls with every mile. At zero the engine will not restart once switched off. If it is running, keep it running until you are parked somewhere we can reach you.
Common AdBlue faults on the Mitsubishi L200
The Series 6 2.2 DI-D is a capable engine, but its SCR system is exposed to the usual pickup problems: short runs, mud, water and towing.
NOx sensor faults: P2200, P229F, U029D
NOx sensors drift or fail with age and heat cycling. P2200 is a circuit fault, P229F an out-of-range reading and U029D lost communication. Mud and moisture in connectors can set the same codes, so we inspect wiring first.
SCR efficiency: P20EE and P2BAD
These codes mean NOx output is higher than the ECU expects. Often the cause is a drifting downstream sensor, an under-dosing injector or poor fluid rather than the catalyst. Live data tells us which.
Injector crystallisation: P204F
Urea deposits on the injector nozzle reduce dosing and set P204F, especially on trucks that do short runs. We clean first; a replacement injector is a £750 parts item.
Pump pressure faults: P20E8, P20E9
P20E8 means pressure too low and P20E9 too high. A worn pump, blocked line or crystallised pipe can cause either. We test live pressure before naming a part.
Fluid quality and heater: P207F, P20BA
Old or contaminated AdBlue sets P207F, and a failed tank heater sets P20BA. We check concentration with a refractometer before replacing anything.
Live-data diagnosis on a Mitsubishi L200
We work through the system in order so you only pay for the part that has actually failed.
Full code read with freeze-frame data
Stored and pending codes are read, with freeze-frame data showing exhaust temperature and dosing state at the time of the fault.
Pump pressure under command
We command the pump and watch pressure in live data. Unstable pressure points to the pump or a restricted line.
NOx sensor comparison under load
Both sensors are read at varying load. The downstream reading should fall clearly while dosing is active.
Underbody wiring and tank inspection
We check connectors, harness routing and the tank area for packed mud, corrosion, water ingress and impact damage.
Fluid strength and heater check
A refractometer test checks the fluid, and heater current draw rules the element in or out.
How the L200 AdBlue repair works
The aim is an L200 that restarts normally, shows no warning and has verified SCR function. You get a fixed total before any work starts. No fix, no fee. Written warranty. We attend at your driveway, yard, farm, depot or roadside.
Injector cleaning, fluid replacement and wiring repairs are usually completed on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, we finish diagnosis, agree the fixed total and return to fit. The prices below are parts prices; labour is quoted after diagnosis (POA) and included in the total you approve first.
Countdown cleared and restart proven
Codes are cleared, the countdown confirmed gone, and the engine is shut down and restarted to prove the lockout has released.
SCR function verified at temperature
Pressure, NOx readings and heater status are monitored at operating temperature before we leave.
Written warranty
Every repair carries a written warranty.
- Diagnosis and straightforward fix: From £249 Callout, diagnosis and simple repairs such as injector cleaning, fluid replacement or a wiring fix. Labour for larger jobs is quoted after diagnosis (POA).
- NOx sensor repair job: From £249 (parts) Parts price. Labour is quoted after diagnosis (POA), with a fixed total agreed before any work starts.
- AdBlue injector: £750 (parts) Parts price only, for cases where cleaning does not restore dosing. Labour quoted after diagnosis (POA).
- AdBlue tank assembly: £795 (parts) Parts price only. Labour quoted after diagnosis (POA). The fixed total is confirmed before the part is ordered.

Software path — discussed only after diagnosis
Physical repair comes first on every L200 callout. Any software option is only discussed after diagnosis, once we know which component has failed and what a proper repair costs.
If it is raised at all, we explain the legal position clearly so you can make an informed decision.
Any software change that disables AdBlue or SCR monitoring is supplied for off-road, competition or export use only, and the customer declares any modifications. It is never offered as a road-legal fix. Read our disclaimer.
Series 5 and Series 6: which have AdBlue
The Series 6 L200 from 2019 uses the 2.2 DI-D with an SCR system. The earlier Series 5 2.4 DI-D, including its Euro 6 versions, mostly had no AdBlue, though this depends on the exact vehicle.
Because it varies, we confirm from the registration whether your truck has an AdBlue system before we attend. The Fiat Fullback was a Series 5-based twin sold briefly, so the same applies to it.
Parts supply after the L200 left UK sale
The L200 left UK sale around 2024. Parts supply for a model no longer sold new can tighten over time, with longer lead times on some components.
We confirm the failed component first and tell you the lead time before you commit. Cleaning an injector or repairing wiring often avoids waiting for a new part.
Towing, mud and low-mileage use
The tank, lines and NOx sensor wiring sit low, where mud and water reach them. Packed mud and pressure washing cause intermittent U029D and P2200 codes. Towing raises exhaust temperature and load, which is hard on sensors.
Farm and estate trucks that make short runs suffer injector deposits and old fluid, which set P204F and P207F. We can drain and refill the system on site.
Frequently asked questions
Does my Mitsubishi L200 have AdBlue?
Series 6 trucks (2019 on) with the 2.2 DI-D do. Earlier Series 5 trucks mostly do not. We confirm from the registration.
How much does L200 AdBlue repair cost?
Diagnosis and straightforward fixes start from £249. Parts prices are an injector at £750 and a tank assembly at £795, with a NOx sensor job from £249 in parts. Labour is quoted after diagnosis, with a fixed total before work starts. No fix, no fee.
My L200 says it will not restart. What now?
The ECU is counting down miles to a restart lockout. Keep the engine running until you are parked somewhere accessible, then call 0203 038 8555.
Can you still get L200 parts?
The L200 left UK sale around 2024, so supply for some parts can be slower. We confirm the failed part and give you the lead time before you commit.
Is the Fiat Fullback the same?
It was a Series 5-based twin, so it mostly had no AdBlue. We confirm from the registration.
Can you come to my farm or yard?
Yes. We work at driveways, yards, farms, depots and roadsides, 6am–9pm, 7 days a week including bank holidays.
