Iveco Daily AdBlue Repair

Iveco Daily AdBlue repair: NOx sensor, U029D and countdown faults fixed mobile

Iveco Daily Euro 6 vans, tippers, horseboxes and motorhomes with the 2.3 or 3.0 diesel use SCR with NOx sensors, a pump and a dosing injector. A fault such as U029D brings an AdBlue warning and a countdown to no start. We diagnose and repair on site, 6am–9pm, 7 days including bank holidays. From £249, fixed price before work starts, no fix no fee.

By the Bolt Remaps technical team

U029D is a known Daily fault. Read more on our U029D page.

Typical Iveco Daily AdBlue dash messages

The Daily usually shows an AdBlue or exhaust fluid warning, such as "AdBlue system fault" or "Engine power limited", often with a yellow lamp. A countdown follows, and later a message that the engine will not restart once the distance runs out.

Some Dailies reduce power first, so a van that suddenly feels flat with an AdBlue lamp on is showing the same fault. Exact wording varies by year and dash type. A full tank with the warning still showing means a component fault, not low fluid.

Common AdBlue faults on the Iveco Daily

Euro 6 Dailies, from about 2016, use the 2.3 and 3.0 diesels with SCR. Many are worked hard, so heat, vibration and long hours show up in the sensors and wiring.

  • Lost comms to the NOx sensor — U029D

U029D means the control unit has lost communication with a NOx sensor. It is a known Daily issue. The cause can be the sensor, its connector or wiring near the exhaust, so we test the circuit before ordering parts.

  • NOx sensor failure — P2200, P229F, P20EE

P2200 is a circuit fault, P229F a range fault and P20EE reports poor catalyst efficiency. A tired sensor is a common cause behind all three.

  • Dosing injector deposits — P204F, P20E9

Crystallised urea restricts the injector. P204F logs a performance fault, and P20E9 can set as pressure rises against the restriction.

  • Pump and pressure faults — P20E8

A weak pump, supply leak or blocked filter sets P20E8. Live pressure data shows which.

  • Heater and fluid faults — P20BA, P207F, P2BAD

P20BA is a heater fault and P207F a fluid quality fault. P2BAD (NOx exceedance) can follow if the system has been unable to dose correctly for some time.

How we diagnose an Iveco Daily on site

We test the circuit and the live data before ordering any part.

  • Full code read with freeze-frame data

Engine and SCR codes are read with the conditions recorded when each fault set, including any U029D history.

  • NOx sensor wiring and connector check

Wiring and connectors are inspected for heat damage, chafing and corrosion, which are common causes of lost comms.

  • Sensor readings under load

Both sensors are compared as load changes, so a dropout or sluggish reading shows up clearly.

  • Pump pressure and injector dosing

Pressure is watched under command and dosing compared with the commanded amount.

  • Heater and fluid test

Heater current and fluid concentration are checked before any part is condemned.

How the Iveco Daily AdBlue repair works

The aim is a Daily that starts normally, has full power, shows no warning and has verified SCR function. Fixed total before work starts. No fix, no fee. Written warranty.

Wiring repairs, injector cleaning and fluid changes are often done on the first visit. If a part must be ordered, we diagnose first, agree the price and return to fit it. We come to your driveway, yard, depot, stables or roadside.

  • Warning cleared and restart proven

Codes are cleared after the repair and the engine restarted to confirm the countdown has gone.

  • Live-data sign-off

Pressure, both NOx sensors and the heater are checked at operating temperature.

  • Written warranty

Every repair carries a written warranty.

  • Diagnosis and straightforward fix: From £249 Callout, diagnosis and simple repairs such as wiring repair, injector cleaning or a fluid change.
  • NOx sensor repair job: From £249 (parts) Parts price only.
  • AdBlue injector: £750 (parts) Parts price only, and only where cleaning is not enough.
  • AdBlue tank assembly: £795 (parts) Parts price only, fitted once live tests point to the tank assembly.
  • Labour: POA after diagnosis Labour is quoted after diagnosis. You get one fixed total before any work starts.

Software path — discussed only after diagnosis

Physical repair comes first on every Daily callout. Any software option is only discussed after diagnosis, when a repair is not sensible, with a clear explanation of the legal position.

Any software change that disables AdBlue or SCR monitoring is supplied for off-road, competition or export use only, and the customer declares any modifications. It is never offered as a road-legal fix. Read our disclaimer.

Daily engines and model years

The Euro 6 Daily, from about 2016, uses the 2.3 and 3.0 diesels in several outputs, and gross weights run from 3.5 tonnes to heavier chassis cab versions. Earlier Euro 5 Dailies mostly use different emissions kit. Send us the registration and we confirm what your van has.

Box vans, tippers, horseboxes and motorhomes

The Daily is a popular base for box vans, tippers, drop sides, horseboxes and motorhome conversions. Bodywork can restrict access to the tank and exhaust, and seasonal vehicles can sit with old fluid for months. We check fluid age and body access on these vehicles first.

Horseboxes and motorhomes are often stored away from home, so we travel to yards, stables, storage sites and roadside.

Why U029D is worth a proper circuit test

Replacing a NOx sensor for a U029D fault without testing the wiring can mean the fault returns. We check the connector, loom and supply first, and replace the sensor only when the evidence points to it.

Frequently asked questions

What does U029D mean on an Iveco Daily?

U029D means the control unit has lost communication with a NOx sensor. It is a known Daily fault, caused by the sensor, a connector or wiring. We test the circuit before replacing anything.

How much does an Iveco Daily AdBlue repair cost?

From £249 for diagnosis and straightforward fixes. Parts are NOx sensor from £249, injector £750 and tank assembly £795. Labour is quoted after diagnosis, with a fixed total before work starts.

Can you fix a horsebox or motorhome on a Daily chassis?

Yes. We attend yards, stables, storage sites and roadside, 6am–9pm, 7 days including bank holidays. The SCR system is the same as on the van.

Why has my Daily lost power with an AdBlue light on?

Some Dailies reduce engine power when the SCR system has a fault. It usually returns once the fault is repaired and the codes are cleared.

Does every Daily have AdBlue?

Euro 6 versions, from about 2016, generally do. Earlier vans often do not. Send us your registration and we confirm.

Can I keep driving with the countdown running?

Yes, but every mile reduces the remaining distance, and at zero the engine will not restart. Park somewhere accessible and call 0203 038 8555.
