Where South Mimms services is

South Mimms is a Welcome Break site where the M25 meets the A1(M) at junction 23, just outside Potters Bar. It is one of the busiest service areas on the orbital, so it is a common stop for vans heading north out of London and for drivers coming off the A1(M) into the capital.

South Mimms services is about 17 miles from central London, inside our London and South East 3-hour callout window. Where a van is free, we aim to be with you within 3 hours of you locking the slot.

If the warning comes on while you are driving

  • Do not stop on the hard shoulder for an AdBlue warning

A warning or countdown is not an emergency stop. Carry on calmly to the next services or a safe exit, unless the vehicle has lost power.

  • Read the dash before you switch off

Note the exact message and the miles left on any countdown. A photo is ideal. On some vehicles, switching off at zero means it will not restart.

  • Lost power or in limp mode?

Pull over somewhere safe, put your hazards on and get out on the verge side if you are on the motorway. Call National Highways or your breakdown cover first if you are in a live lane.

  • Call or WhatsApp us from the car park

Send the dash photo, your registration and which side of the services you are on. We tell you what it is likely to be and give you an honest arrival time.

Roads around South Mimms services

  • M25 junctions 21 to 25

If the warning shows between the M1 and the A10, South Mimms is the natural place to stop. Leave at junction 23 rather than carry on round the orbital with a countdown running.

  • A1(M) from Hatfield and Welwyn

Coming south, junction 1 of the A1(M) drops you straight into the services. Heading north, this is the last proper stop before Hatfield.

  • A1081 to St Albans and Barnet

The old road through London Colney and Barnet gives us a quiet second meeting point if the car park is full.

What we do when we get there

  • Meeting point

We meet in the main car park, away from the fuel forecourt. If you would rather move off site, Potters Bar and London Colney are a few minutes away and we can meet you there.

  • Live diagnosis first

We read the codes and the live data on the SCR system before any part is quoted, so you know what has failed and why.

  • Fixed price before work starts

Work starts from £249. Parts prices are a tank at £795, an injector at £750 and a NOx sensor job from £249. Labour is quoted after diagnosis.

The Bolt Remaps offer

  • From £249, fixed price

We diagnose first and agree the price with you before any work starts. No surprises on the day.

  • No fix, no fee

If we cannot fix the fault we agreed to fix, you do not pay for the repair.

  • 6am to 9pm, 7 days

Including bank holidays. Priority callouts for countdowns and no-starts.

  • We come to you

Driveway, yard, depot or roadside. Diagnostics and common parts are on the van.

South Mimms services: questions

How much does an AdBlue repair at South Mimms services cost?

From £249. We diagnose the fault in the car park, tell you what has failed and fix the price before any work starts. No fix, no fee on the fault we agreed to fix.

My van says it will not restart after the countdown. Should I stop at South Mimms?

Yes. Park up, keep the engine running only if the dash still allows it, and call us. Once a van has stopped at zero it may not restart, so a car park is a far better place for that to happen than the hard shoulder of the M25.

What hours do you cover the motorway services?

6am to 9pm, 7 days a week, including bank holidays. Outside those hours, park somewhere safe and message us on WhatsApp for the first slot.
